I value privacy. Your’s. Mine. The only exceptions are my characters, where I tend to shamelessly listen in, so I can tell you every glorious detail of their stories. Since they live in my mind and occasionally wake me up to tell an important missing piece of information, I consider this a fair trade-off. But I digress.
Your privacy. The only information I store on my website (siahuff.com) is information that you share freely. In that spirit, I’d like to share what data's collected (not much) and what to do if you change your mind.
My site is protected by SSL which ensures that everything sent to or from my server's encrypted. I use powerful security software to maintain security on my site to the best of my ability. Keep reading to understand the particulars.
My website’s my home on the web and just as if we’re sitting in my living room, I’d like you to feel comfortable. To allow for conversation, you have the opportunity to post comments. The information collected includes your name, email address, IP address, and your comments. If you ever wish to have your comments removed, send me a quick note through the form below and I'll remove them.
Sadly, there are many people who would love to fill any website with spam comments. My site's no exception. To protect my site from spam, your information's compared with a list of known spam senders by CleanTalk. They store your information, but only for a few days until I let them know that we’re friends. It’s CleanTalk’s job to keep the bad guys out.
This is a public website. Once you post a comment, anyone can read it. Please use caution when posting any sensitive information. If you are concerned with their processing of your data, I urge you not to leave comments.
When you subscribe, I collect your name, IP address (the address of your computer), and email address so that I can send you infrequent updates about what's going on in my world. If you choose to be removed from this list, click unsubscribe at the bottom of any newsletter.
In addition, my newsletters do send a message back to my website when they are opened. I store the statistics about whether you've opened the newsletters or not. This helps me to better design my future content.
Contact forms on this site allow you to send me messages. Those messages (along with your email address, IP address, and your name) are processed through my website and sent to me via email. They are also stored on my website for use in case of a failure in the email system. This information's checked for spam as noted above and then transmitted to me via email.

I may occasionally update this privacy statement. When I do, I will also revise the “last updated” date at the top of the privacy statement.
